When it comes to anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia, and OCD, there are so many helpful online resources. Anxiety podcasts are one of my favorite ways to get some (free!) extra support on your recovery journey! And let's face it... struggling with anxiety can be isolating. Sometimes, it can feel like nobody understands, and you're on this journey alone. But podcasts can be a great tool that can help you recognize that you're not alone, you're not crazy, and you're actually very capable of recovery!
One of the big perks of listening to anxiety podcasts is that you can hear from people who have overcome precisely what you're going through. Rather than endlessly googling your symptoms, seeking reassurance, and feeling stuck, you can get valuable information from those who have been exactly where you are! I know how helpful these resources have been for so many of my clients, which is why I want to take the time to personally share some of my favorites with you.
I want you to know that each person I'm mentioning here has personal experience with things like panic attacks, OCD, agoraphobia, and generalized anxiety. And the best part is that each of them has been able to recover from these struggles. Some of them are therapists, too!
MY FAVORITE ANXIETY PODCASTS
1. A Healthy Push - Shannon Jackson
Naturally, my own podcast is one of my favorites! I personally struggled with panic disorder and agoraphobia for fifteen years... and I use my personal recovery experience to help people experience lots of peace, joy, and freedom. On my podcast, we talk about topics like panic attacks, agoraphobia, driving anxiety, toilet anxiety, and intrusive thoughts. Each week, I share practical tips and tools you can use to reach your recovery goals!
And something really cool that I do on my podcast, is I interview people just like you! People who are, or have, struggled with anxiety, panic disorder, and agoraphobia. They are often one-on-one clients of mine, or students of my masterclasses, and students of my Panic to Peace program. They share their stories, what has helped them, and they share their insights and wisdom with you. If you've never listened to my podcast, my episode on 5 Truths About Panic Attacks is a great episode to start with. Here, I share some really helpful reminders about panic attacks.
2. The Anxious Truth - Drew Linsalata
The Anxious Truth is one of my favorite podcasts to listen to because of Drew’s ability to infuse his personal recovery experience with the science behind anxiety disorders. For years, Drew struggled with panic attacks and agoraphobia. Now, he uses his platform to empower others to see that recovery is possible for them! Drew is also a therapist in training, too, making him an awesome source for all things, anxiety, panic disorder, and agoraphobia.
It’s tough to pick a favorite episode of mine from The Anxious Truth because there are hundreds! But if I had to pick one, it would be episode 102: Fear Of Insanity Or Going Crazy. I rarely hear this topic being talked about on other podcasts, but so many people struggle with this fear! It’s very common to feel like intense anxiety is making you “go crazy”. But Drew’s episode provides a healthy amount of assurance, while also helping you to understand that anxiety doesn’t cause you to go crazy.
3. Your Anxiety Toolkit - Kimberley Quinlan
Kimberley Quinlan is a licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in anxiety and OCD. As a therapist, Kimberley blends a science-based approach with her own experience of overcoming anxiety and an eating disorder. Recently, Kimberley was on my podcast and we talked about the importance of self-compassion in anxiety recovery!
On Your Anxiety Toolkit, Kimberley’s anxiety podcast, she speaks on a variety of topics surrounding anxiety, panic, and OCD. Most importantly, she shares the valuable tools you need to overcome these problems! Like Drew, Kimberley has hundreds of podcast episodes. One of my favorites is episode 313: What Causes Anxiety And Why It Is Not Your Fault. So often, we can beat ourselves up for struggling with anxiety. But in this episode, Kimberley explains just why it’s not your fault. This episode is such a great reminder that struggling doesn’t mean that you’re broken or defective!
4. All The Hard Things - Jenna Overbaugh
Jenna Overbaugh is a licensed therapist who has been helping people overcome anxiety and OCD for over ten years! On her anxiety podcast, All The Hard Things, Jenna talks about the tools to overcome OCD and fear. She sheds light on the different forms of OCD, how to navigate intrusive thoughts, and even how to practice exposure therapy. Jenna has personal experience with overcoming OCD, and she is so passionate about helping others recover, too!
There are so many amazing episodes of All The Hard Things (I mean, there are over 100 of them!). But if I had to pick one, it would be 106: Panic and Fear of Fear With Shannon Jackson. I had so much fun working on this episode with Jenna! Here, we discuss a little bit of my personal anxiety journey, and how I was able to recover. I also had Jenna on my podcast to discuss rumination, and she shares so much goodness in this episode!
5. Disordered: Anxiety Help - Josh Fletcher and Drew Linsalata
Disordered is a new podcast featuring Josh Fletcher from The Panic Pod and Drew Linsalata from The Anxious Truth. Together, these two are unstoppable! Josh is a psychotherapist who has recovered from panic disorder and agoraphobia, too. Disordered only has a few episodes so far…but Josh and Drew have already shared so much goodness!
In their most recent episode, Anxiety…Body Vs Mind, Josh and Drew talk about the connection between the body and mind when it comes to anxiety. They share such great information, and they have great banter!
I hope this list will help you discover your new favorite anxiety podcast! Between each of these amazing people, there is so much valuable information that can help you on the path toward healing. Hearing from those who have overcome hard things is so inspiring and hopeful. But do you want to know the best part? You’re no different than them, and you are just as capable of recovering!
